2025: A Memorable Year
As we head towards the end of 2025, we’ve been reflecting on what has truly been a memorable year for Stratum Masonry. From growing our team and celebrating milestones to helping shine a national spotlight on the skills shortage in traditional crafts, this year has been one of progress and purpose.
It’s been a year that’s reminded us why we do what we do. Preserving Scotland’s built heritage and training the next generation of craftspeople. As a stonemasonry company based in Glasgow, we’re proud to see our team and community grow stronger with every passing year.
A Growing Team and Skilled Workforce
This year, our 3 apprentices qualified as stonemasons. This is a milestone that we are proud of and shows our commitment to giving back and bringing through the next generation of crafts people. Behind these numbers are people who care deeply about the craft. From talented stonemasons in Glasgow to apprentices just starting their journey. Every member of our team contributes to the high standards we’re known for, and together, we’ve built a culture.
At a time when the construction industry is facing a well-documented skills shortage, we’ve made it our responsibility to do more than just talk about it, we’re actively part of the solution. By offering apprenticeships to keen individuals. We’re ensuring that the art of traditional stonemasonry continues to flourish for generations to come.
Championing the Trade
In 2025, we were proud to feature on STV News, helping raise awareness about the national skill gap in our craft and the importance of supporting apprenticeships. We also appeared in numerous newspapers and industry publications, continuing to spread our message about preserving Scotland’s built environment.
The feature on STV was a real highlight. It gave us a platform to speak openly about the challenges our industry faces and the opportunities it offers young people. By sharing our story, we’ve helped to inspire others to consider a career in the trades and to appreciate the level of craftsmanship that goes into the craft.
Our media coverage also highlighted our ongoing work to protect Glasgow’s historic sandstone buildings, emphasising how vital it is to maintain these structures using traditional methods and materials. We believe that the more people understand and value traditional building skills, the stronger the industry becomes.
Recognition and Awards
It’s been humbling to see our efforts recognised on a larger stage. We were finalists in a number of prestigious industry awards, and our Managing Director, Scott, made it into the Top 10 of Screwfix’s Top Tradesperson 2025. A massive achievement and testament to his leadership and passion for the trade.
These moments of recognition are more than just milestones, they reflect years of hard work and consistency. For Scott to be recognised among the top tradespeople in the UK is not only a personal achievement but a symbol of how far Stratum Masonry has come since its founding in 2019.
We’ve built a reputation for excellence in stonemasonry in Glasgow and beyond. Being shortlisted for multiple awards reinforces that our approach of focusing on craftsmanship and people continues to set us apart in the industry.
Building a Community Around Craft
Through our content and storytelling, we’ve reached people far and wide, from fellow tradespeople and heritage enthusiasts to homeowners who value craftsmanship. We’re proud to have built a genuine community of people who share our appreciation for the craft.
Over the years, our online community has grown, with more people engaging with us behind the scenes work and educational posts. We’ve loved seeing the curiosity and respect people have for traditional masonry, and it’s rewarding to know our work is helping others understand the importance of maintaining Scotland’s historic buildings.
From Instagram and Facebook to LinkedIn, our followers have become part of the Stratum story, sharing our passion for stone restoration, lime pointing, and celebrating Glasgow’s built environment. This community connection has become a real source of pride for us, bridging the gap between tradespeople and the wider public.
Celebrating Six Years in Business
This year also marked six years since Stratum Masonry was founded, a journey that started in a garage and has grown into a thriving business working on some of Scotland’s most iconic buildings. We’ve continued to secure exciting projects, with work already confirmed well into 2026.
Looking back on our six-year journey, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. From a small setup with big ambitions to becoming one of Glasgow’s trusted stonemasonry specialists. Every milestone has been achieved through teamwork and a genuine passion for the craft.
We’re grateful to our clients, who continue to place their trust in us for projects ranging from chimney rebuilds and stone repairs to large-scale heritage restorations. Securing work well into 2026 is a testament to our reputation for quality and a forward-thinking approach to traditional building work.
Restoring Glasgow’s Finest
One of the highlights of 2025 has been the opportunity to restore some of Glasgow’s finest buildings, breathing new life into the city’s historic architecture. Bringing the Bucks Head Building in Argyle Street was a particular proud moment for Stratum. This project, along with several others across the city, reflects the heart of what we do
Looking Ahead
As we move into 2026, we’re more determined than ever to keep championing the craft, supporting apprenticeships, and setting the standard for traditional building works in Scotland.
A huge thank you to our team, clients, supply chain, and followers who’ve supported us this year.
Looking forward, our focus remains clear, to continue growing and training. With several exciting projects lined up across Glasgow and the central belt, and a team that’s stronger than ever, we’re ready to build on this momentum and make 2026 another year to remember for Stratum Masonry.
