Blink and You’ve Missed It!
I’m not exactly sure where this year has gone, but when I think back on everything that we have accomplished, then I’m amazed that we managed to fit it all in!
The year started slowly, not because we didn’t have the work to do, but we found ourselves still in the clutches of Covid and victim of undesirable weather conditions. A lot of “behind the scenes” juggling and strategy by our MD, Scott, ensured we made it through to the springtime relatively unscathed, but with an ever-increasing list of clients.
As enquiries poured in and the sun keeked out, our next challenge (because as Scott likes to remind us, there’s no such thing as problems, just challenges) was one faced by most sectors across our industry – material shortages. This widespread issue resulted in lengthy delays and unstable costs at every stage in the supply chain.
Now I don’t want to brag, but we have the best team here. We banded together like we always do, and the summer months flew by in a flurry of activity. Supplies were sought and materials purchased, our yard was cleaned out and re-organised numerous times due to the amount of footfall it was being subjected to, and there never seemed to be enough hours in the day. As projects and enquiries came at us from all directions, jobs were completed as others commenced, and our waiting list grew and grew. We all worked through summer which merged unseeingly into autumn, and we were eventually afforded the opportunity to catch our breath.
If only for one night.
We were a tad excited when it was revealed a few months prior that we had been selected as finalists at the Scottish Home Improvement Awards, and Scott promptly booked us a table for the awards gala on 29th October at the Marriot Glasgow.
I’m not sure if our excitement came from being finalists, getting fed, or being let out together for the first time in almost 2 years (thanks Covid!) However, judging by the team’s reaction, you’d think we’d all been invited to the Oscars!
And as you probably all know by now – we won Best New Business!
but if you don’t…..

- WE WON BEST NEW BUSINESS, AT THE SCOTTISH HOME IMPROVEMENT AWARDS!!
The elation of winning certainly helped us through the past 2 months, which have been our busiest yet!
As we prepare to close for the Christmas period, we take stock of our good fortune and achievements, and look forward to spending some well earned rest with our family and loved ones. And now that we are back (again) in the midst of the uncertainty of Covid, we can appreciate how fortunate we are to have had the year we have, challenges and all.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
