If They Could See Us Now
It has been more than a year since my last blog and who could have predicted the changes in our world and lifestyle. I could hark on about Covid-19 and its impact on our business and lives, but let’s face it, we are all riding the same storm and have been surrounded by enough negativity without me contributing to it. So instead of dwelling on what we can’t control, I’ve decided to share with you the positive changes and progress we have made in the past year.
Our biggest changes have included increasing our staff levels, the purchase of additional vehicles, and, most recently, moving into new premises.
Our new stonemasons, stone restorers and labourers, are proving to have the work ethic and attitude that fits soundly with our ethos at Stratum Masonry, and are a welcome addition to the team. Additional staff is allowing us to take on more projects and, hopefully, will free up our MD, Scott, letting him spend more time on other areas of the company and less time “on the tools” (although I think he secretly still loves getting his hands dirty and I have my doubts as to how much time will be spent off-site!).
The latest addition to our team is Fraser, who is our new Digital Marketing Apprentice. Fraser will be responsible for much of our social media communications and engagement, while studying for his Digital Marketing Diploma. We have a much complimented and copied (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as they say) social media style, and we are sure Fraser will use his learning and experience to continue to build upon this success. We are looking forward to seeing all the new concepts Fraser can introduce to our online sharing.
As we build our team, we obviously need to build our fleet too, we now have several vans out and about, not easy to miss with our eye-catching logo, and a few of you have been in touch to say you have seen us in and around your area. We are all over the west of Scotland this week, so feel free to let us know if you spot us.
More staff, vehicles and projects mean we needed more space, so we moved into our new premises in Dalmarnock, in November 2020. It was a really exciting time for us. We now have a large storage area underneath our office and conference suite. We spent many hours cleaning, decorating and furnishing our new home and I’m sure you’ll agree from the pictures that our efforts encapsulate the professionalism and attention to detail that is standard in every aspect of our business.
We have come a long way, in a short time, in exceptional circumstances, and I am not going to apologise for boasting about our achievements. We have had a challenging year and it sometimes felt like every step forward resulted in 2 back, but we have persevered, adapted and stuck together. We have the best team here at Stratum Masonry, we support and help each other and I have no doubt that our teamwork and leadership are the main reasons we have thrived in one of the most challenging years in recent history. I can’t wait to see what the future brings.
